Libraries are important to me for many reasons.  I use the tech services to print important papers I’ve received in the e-mail.  I also borrow books, both fiction and nonfiction, that I couldn’t afford to buy.  I borrow magazines as well.  I usually also borrow the audiobook to go along with the book that I am reading so that I can listen while I drive.  I am so appreciative of the great library system that Wyoming has.  I was even blessed to work within the system for a decade and a half.  So grateful for the great libraries and staff in Powell and Cody.  – Holly Bills

It is a place for me to escape to, to relax, and to enjoy the things I love…books. - anonymous

Star Valley Branch Library

Today started out as a blustery fall day with a light snowfall this morning. Things warmed up at the Star Valley Branch Library as preschool aged children made their way into the library to enjoy a Halloween themed story time and Trick-or-treat experience through the library. We had such a fun array of costumes. Parents took the time to tell us why our library is important to them.

“The library gives us a space to learn, socialize, and engage. The kids' activities are amazing!” - Stephanie Prosser

“My kids love to read and all the crafts the library has.” - Jaylene Priest

Then throughout the day we had many of usual patrons enter the library to use computers, copying, and faxing services, get tech support with Libby or in using our computers, microfilm machine, checking out library materials, using our study areas, using our clean restrooms, and enjoy our programming. Today we have many passive and virtual programs going on four our adult, teen, and family library patrons to include an emoji button creation station and patron survey, a trick or treat basket, our Globetrotters culture education program about South Asia, our Teen Take and Make Book Pumpkins, and our Health and Wellness program on Dental Hygiene. Patrons visiting the library shared with us the importance of libraries.

Crest Hill Elementary
How we participate in Snapshot Day here is students get to use iPads to take pictures during their library visit. Then they respond to a few writing prompts and reflect on why libraries are important to them. The periods went quick this year, but the students sure did enjoy the experience.
